Starts that leave when they say they leave

Kassa events are not races and not photo ops. They are recurring field sessions — Delta loops, monthly long rides, seasonal desert edges — built for riders who want company, predictable pace bands, and a desk that publishes meeting points the night before.

Recurring calendar

The rhythm we actually keep

Dates shift with heat, harvest traffic, and roadworks — but the logic below stays stable. Confirm each start by email or phone; we never assume you read a social post from three weeks ago.

Every Friday · 05:15 roll-out

Delta Friday 45

Our front door event. A conversational loop from Second Tanta through canal shoulders and farm connectors — typically 42–48 km depending on wind and irrigation gates. Average moving pace sits around 22–26 km/h with regroup points at every major junction. Ideal for first-time group riders, returning cyclists, and anyone who wants to learn Gharbia road rhythm without a wattage contest.

Meeting point rotates between El-Galaa corridor landmarks; we text the pin Thursday evening. Lights required in winter months. Two water bottles minimum from May through September.

First Saturday · monthly

Long Lattice

70–90 km across the Delta lattice — Mahalla edges, Kafr El-Zayat connectors, long flat stretches that teach fueling discipline. We publish the corridor mid-week to confirmed riders only. This is not a race; it is a moving seminar on pacing, shade planning, and how to bail toward a town with a bakery when your legs disagree with your calendar.

Bring real food, not just gels. Spare tube, pump, and a charged phone with offline maps. We carry a group kit but you own your mechanicals.

Third Sunday · monthly · Oct–Apr

Skills & traffic calm clinic

Short urban session — 90 minutes of signalling, lane positioning, eye contact at unmarked crossings, and the art of not arguing with a microbus. No distance bragging. Helmets and working brakes non-negotiable. Often followed by coffee and route Q&A at the desk.

Seasonal · announced 10–14 days ahead

Desert fringe weekend

Hardpack beyond the green line — gravel-capable tyres, support vehicle, strict turn-around times. Limited places because water and shade math matters more than enthusiasm. Read the desert trails sheet before you ask for a spot; we will ask what you learned from it.

Quarterly · dates vary

Coastal wind day · Alexandria corridor

Logistics-heavy trip treated as an event, not a casual spin. Crosswind literacy, café stops as shelter, and honest pacing into headwinds. RSVP includes transport plan confirmation — we do not collect strangers at random motorway exits.

How to join

RSVP like an adult, roll out like a guest

Message [email protected] or call +20 100 738 9996 with your name, which event you want, approximate weekly riding volume, and whether you have ridden in groups before. One-line “can I join?” messages get a slower reply than “Friday 45, 60 km/week solo, new to groups.”

We confirm or waitlist within 48 hours. Meeting coordinates go out the evening before. If you are late, we leave — not from cruelty, but because canal traffic and sun wait for no one. Catch the next start instead of chasing a moving peloton through village cores.

House rules (non-negotiable)

  • Helmet fastened before roll-out. No exceptions, no negotiations.
  • Headphones in both ears forbidden on group rides. One ear open to the road.
  • Pass on the left with a clear verbal signal. Hold your line through villages.
  • No half-wheeling, no surprise sprints, no shaming slower riders.
  • Mechanical or cramp? Raise a hand. Someone will wait. Pride is cheaper than a crash.
  • Photography is fine at regroups — not in tight traffic or blind corners.
First-timer? Start with Delta Friday 45 and read the beginners sheet. Tell us it is your first group ride — we will pair you with a ride buddy at the front.

Kit & carry

What to bring so the group does not become your support crew

Every ride

Helmet, front and rear lights (even at dawn), two water bottles from spring onward, spare tube, tyre levers, mini pump or CO2, multi-tool, charged phone with offline maps, ID and cash for emergencies.

Long Lattice

Add real food — dates, sandwiches, electrolyte mix. Sun sleeves or sunscreen. Optional rear blinker. Tell us about medical conditions that matter on a hot flat road.

Desert weekend

Gravel-capable tyres, 3+ litres water capacity, sun hat for stops, light wind layer, whistle, headlight with spare battery. We publish a mandatory kit check list with each announcement.

Bikes should be recently serviced — brakes that squeal under load, wobbly wheels, and torn tyres are how you turn a social ride into a roadside workshop. If you are unsure, visit the desk during the week; we do not sell bikes, but we will tell you honestly if something looks unsafe.

Dress for heat and dust, not for a magazine cover. Light colours, breathable fabrics, and glasses that keep grit out of your eyes beat matching kit every time.

Punctuality is respect for everyone who woke up before the sun — and for the drivers who will meet us at the first canal bridge whether we are ready or not. — Kassa roll-out notes · Gharbia

Desert weekends

Seasonal edges — when the map turns ochre

Fringe Cyclist on desert road under hard light
Water first · ego never

Desert fringe weekends run October through April when overnight lows cooperate and midday heat stays within human tolerance. We never announce these casually — each edition includes a support plan, turn-around times, and an explicit “no” if land access or weather fails the safety check.

Typical format: pre-dawn convoy to hardpack fringe, 40–65 km loop with marked regroups, support vehicle at 20 km intervals, mandatory shade stop. Gravel bikes and sturdy hybrids welcome; pure road bikes with 23 mm tyres are discouraged and may be turned away.

How desert RSVPs differ

You must confirm experience with heat riding, water capacity, and prior completion of at least two Delta group rides. We cap headcount — usually 18–22 riders — because support math has hard limits. Deposit or confirmation fee may apply for transport; details in each announcement.

Read safety sheet sections on heat and emergencies before applying. Desert events are beautiful and unforgiving in the same hour.

Quick answers

Before you write the desk

Are events free?

Delta Friday 45 and clinics are free. Long Lattice and coastal days may share transport costs. Desert weekends include published fees when support vehicles and permits apply.

Can I bring a friend who does not RSVP?

No. Headcount controls pace, regroup plans, and support. Your friend messages us separately — same-day surprises complicate village routing and insurance posture.

What if weather turns ugly?

We cancel or shorten rides when sandstorms, extreme heat, or flooded farm tracks make the corridor unsafe. Decision by 20:00 the night before when possible. If you are confirmed, you get the message.

Do you rent bikes?

We do not. Several Tanta shops rent hybrids by the day — ask the desk for current names. Your bike must fit you and stop reliably.
