Sheet 00 · Nile Delta field atlas
Ride the green geometry
Kassa is a cycling desk in Second Tanta — route memory, heat literacy, and weekend starts for people who ride Egypt as it is, not as a brochure.

Why this atlas exists
Imported training plans die at the first canal crossing
Most cycling advice online assumes cool mornings, painted bike lanes, and cafés that open when you arrive. Egyptian roads reply with irrigation schedules, market trucks, and a sun that edits your pace before kilometre twenty.
Kassa started as scribbled notes after Friday loops around Tanta: which farm tracks stayed rideable after water release, where the shoulder disappeared without warning, how much water a “short” desert fringe actually demanded. Those notes became this site — a field atlas for Gharbia first, Egypt second, Instagram never.
We publish long route sheets, gear that survives grit, training shaped by season, and group starts that leave when they say they leave. You bring a helmet and a bike that stops. We bring the local memory.
Route index · open sheets
Three doors. Pick the one that matches your water bottles.
Each sheet lists surface, shade scarcity, traffic character, and bail-out towns. Distances start from practical landmarks — not decorative trailheads that do not exist.
Nile Delta lattice
Canal shoulders, village cores, farm connectors. The everyday poetry of Gharbia asphalt — best before the sun owns the wires.
Desert fringe weekends
Hardpack beyond the green line. Heat as coach. Turn-around rules that are non-negotiable.
Destination corridors
Alexandria wind, Cairo connectors, Red Sea climbs — treated as trips with timing, not casual spins.
First rides done right
Neighbourhood loops, social Friday starts, and how to ignore advice that was written for another climate.
The Delta does not ask you to prove anything. It asks you to show up before the sun gets loud — and to leave a note if you change the corridor. — Kassa ride notes · Second Tanta
Visual ledger
Dust, steel, and the hour before colour returns to the sky
This week’s desk
Events, craft, and pages built to be read — not skimmed
Group starts
Delta Friday 45, monthly Long Lattice, seasonal desert edges. Punctual. Helmeted. Headphones out.
Gear that lasts
Tyre clearance, sealant, sun sleeves, drivetrain habits after dusty weekends — written for Egyptian grit.
Journal
Field essays: irrigation hour, coastal wind, spare-tube diplomacy. Submit your own 400–800 words.
Training without Alpine myths
Weekly skeletons for heat seasons, flat-road power, and the right to move a session instead of punishing yourself at noon.
Safety that sounds like adults
Predictable lines, early signals, heat stop-rules, night lights, group protocols — no slogan posters.
Community
Riders who return messages and wait when your chain drops
Teachers on borrowed gravel bikes. Engineers who train before shifts. Parents reclaiming Saturday mornings. We care more about how you hold a line through a village than about wattage screenshots.
If you want a silent status contest, this is the wrong desk. If you want company that will share a tube outside a bakery and still finish the loop, start with the community sheet or the next listed start.

Corridors worth packing for

Alexandria wind
Crosswind as a second rider. Café stops as shelter, not just calories.

Red Sea edges
Honest climbs. Louder sun. Treat as camp, not sightseeing with a bike in the boot.
